Hogwarts has 40 new children each year, a minimum 5 of them were muggleborn due to a quota[1]. It is the premier school of Magical Britain.

Dicta quils Edit

Dicta quils aren't allowed at Hogwarts anymore because people used them to write their own tests or homework via portraits, which usually were very knowledgeable.[4]

Duelling Edit

The Hogwarts duelling arena, a round Colosseum of solid oak, stays at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Its complex sets of privacy and safety wards, make it ideal for the violent sport held within. The roof can be closed and opened at will, to better accommodate the ever changing and volatile Scottish weather.[5]

The duelling team is made up of one person from each year from each house. In the tournament, the first years face off against each other and the winner then faces the other team's one year older duellist, and so on, until one side has all seven team members defeated. The teams are usually decided by tryouts at the beginning of the school year. Then all duellist get trained until the main tournament at two-thirds of the school year.[6]

Healer training Edit

Small group of 3 to 4 students, training usually begins at third year. This program is intended to replicate the first eighteen months of St. Mungo's healer training, part time, over five years. The first year of the program is spent on the basics of first aid and dealing with common physical injuries. These included broken bones, flesh wounds, torn ligaments, sprains, and internal bleeding.[7]

Library Edit

Biggest library in Magical Britain.[8]

Quidditch Edit

Each house has one team and they played against each other in a round-robin-system.

Security Edit

Castle shutdown Edit

The current headmaster and deputy can issue a Hogwarts wide lockdown, to disallow anyone from leaving or entering the castle in case of an emergency. The lockdown status of Hogwarts castle is a warding protocol that prevents anyone or anything from leaving or entering the school grounds through any normal entrances or exits other than a single point controlled by the Headmaster. Lockdown is the second highest level of security the school could assume and because of the large drain of magic, could only be maintained for a week.
